Pecan pie squares

Let's continue the merriment, shall we?! Because this recipe is known to sing carols in your mouth!

Equipment needed: Food Processor, 8x8 pan
Yields: 25-35 squares (depending on how big you cut them)
Time: 20 minutes


1.5 cups almonds
2 cups pecans
2 Tablespoons coconut oil
2 Tablespoons honey
1/8 cup maple syrup
1 cup medjool dates
1/2 heaping tsp cinnamon
1/4 heaping tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp vanilla
dash of sea salt


For the base:
1) Blend almonds in food processor until finely ground 
2) Add coconut oil and honey (add a TINY bit of water if need be so that contents are sticky)
3) Remove contents from food processor and pack down into 8x8 pan

For the filling:
1) Put 1/4 cup of pecans aside for garnish
2) Blend the remaining pecans, spices, dates in food processor until finely ground
3) Add maple syrup and dash of sea salt
4) Contents should be sticky and gooey~ well blended! 
5) Remove from food processor and pat the filling down on top of the base. There are two distinguished layers, so be sure that base is well packed.Spread filling out and pack (but not too hard) on top of base
6) Garnish with the remaining pecans and coconut shred
