One Year Anniversary of stepping out of the shame closet

One year ago I shared a video revealing one of my deepest secrets. A secret that lived in my bones and between my cells. Prior to releasing this video very few people knew this about me. It wasn't until after I opened this part of my past, that I experienced a profound healing in my relationship with food and my body.

As a 'one year anniversary' of coming out of the shame closet of imbalanced food behavior, I am reposting this because it is so important to our personal and collective healing to remember that we are NEVER alone in our struggles. Ever. And actually, we can use shame ~ and the behaviors we have used to make us feel separate and alone~ to actually bring us together.

I am also posting this as a reminder to myself that however big a challenge may seem, inside of it exists the same size of opportunity. However, it is up to me to interpret it as either a challenge or an opportunity.heart emoticon heart emoticon

Chocolate and Vanilla COCO Ballin' Blessings

I had the extreme honor of making these ball to share with the people who would be part of my Sunday activities. I knew how many amazing folks I would be connecting with and therefore eating them, so I sang some extra love into them. I chanted "I am entitled to miracles, You are entitled to miracles, WE are entitled to miracles" in them~ (a chant from A Course In Miracles)  and allowed myself to have FUN with this recipe!! 

I love making food so that I can share it. That is the magic to me. Another part of the magic is that this food is delicious and it totally trips people out to learn that there are only minimal ingredients in the recipe~ all which are pronounceable. And they can do it themselves. !! I love sharing my food! It is such a gift to me to share these creations that I have so much fun making.

First, I headed to the Course In Miracles taught by my close friend Early Raj Purdy. After an uplifting and activated class I got to share these treats with my mighty companions!! Then I went to a little festival in Denver where my roommates were showcasing their incredible mobile garden functional art piece. They of course loved up on these coconut balls!! From there I went to a friends house and made dinner where we of course fed each other these delicious desserts. 

Tools needed: food process YIELDS: about 30-40 balls depending on how big your roll them


3 cups of raw coconut shred

1/2 cup virgin coconut oil

1/2 cup raw honey

3/4 cup raw cacao powder

1 tsp vanilla

1/4 tsp course sea salt


1) place coconut shred in food processor and process for about 1 minute

2) Add coconut oil, honey, vanilla, and sea salt and process until contents are well mixed

3) Remove 1/2 of contents from food processor and set aside (These are your coconut vanilla balls, maybe sprinkle with a little cinnamon and mix together w hands)

4) With the remaining half add the cacao powder and process until contents well mixed. 

5) Remove from food processor and roll into little balls!!! Roll vanilla into little balls too! 

While rolling into balls either repeat a mantra that personally resonates w you~ or use the one that I sang/said from ACIM: I am entitled to miracles~ YOU are entitled to miracles ~ WE are entitled to miracles!!!

Art creates more Art ~ Tomato Basil Soup

Eating more vibrant colors will help us to see a more colorful world. When we take the little extra time to make our meals beautiful, allowing them to become an art piece, they become even more nourishing and fortified with nutrients. That's because:

When our food is beautiful we are MUCH more likely to eat it slow. 

When we eat slow we enhance our digestion and metabolism by A LOT and therefore optimize digestion!

The food we eat eventually becomes our body! As our meals are broken down and nutrients assimilated it is vital that we are choosing food that gives us energy rather than takes away our energy.

Let us continue to create our colorful, messy, nutritious masterpieces together~ loving ourselves each bite of the way. 

Tomato Basil Soup

Tools: Vitamix or high speed blender

Yields about 2 cups

Ingredients: Use as many ingredients from either your garden or your neighbors or from the farmers market. These will be that much more nutritious (and therefore more delicious ;) ) 

2 tomatos (I used the flavorful yellow tomatoes (I forget what they are called!), but make sure they have a lot of flavor! I notice conventional and GMO tomatoes don't have much flavor these day, something important to keep in mind w this recipe) 

2 carrots

2 cloves of garlic

1/2 inch of tumeric

small handful of basil

1/4 tsp sea salt

1/4-1/2 tsp raw honey

2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar

1 Tablespoon of olive oil or flax seed oil

1/2 avocado

1/2-3/4 cup of filtered water


Place all ingredients into blender except avocado and basil and blend until smooth.

When thoroughly blended add basil and blend again.

Pour chilled soup into a bowl and cut avocado into small pieces and mix into soup. 

Eat chilled and enjoy thoroughly. :)





Bumpin' Beet Basil Bliss Soup

Ohhhh GOODNESS it has been too long! I took a nice break in July and now I am back to share a favorite recipe of mine. It is nice to be back in action~  and do I have a recipe for YOU~ and you and YoU~ and you too. 

Beet Basil Bliss Soup~ raw, vegan, gf (the works)

Equipment needed: high speed blender

Yields about 3 cups


2 beets

2 carrots

1 small zucchini

2 celery stalks

1/2 avocado

3 garlic cloves (warning, I LOVE GARLIC so adjust as needed)

1/2 cucumber

1/4 cup of basil leaves

1/2 lemon

1/2 apple

3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar

2 tablespoons gf tamari

2 Tablespoons of olive oil

3/4 cup filtered water

1/4 cup pumpkin seeds for garnish

1/8 cup dulse for garnish


Put everything in blender EXCEPT basil and BLEND!!! When it is contents are magically turned into a liquid and well blended add basil and blend. 

Pour chilled contents into a bowl and garnish with pumpkin seeds, dulse and dried cranberries. Let is swirl around your mouth and heart and get ready to bust out some new dance moves. :) :) 



Sensational Summer Salad

Creamy and Crunchy~ two of my favorite textures~ and this salad representing both!! I really like this recipe because most of the vegetables in it have the opportunity to share their unique and exquisite taste. The 'dressing' is lemon, olive oil, and sea salt which brings out the natural flavors of the veggies. 

Equipement needed: knife and cutting board :)

Yields: about 2.5 cups


1 large carrot

1/2 cucumber

1 orange, red, or yellow bell pepper

1/4-1/2 apple

1 avocado

1/2 yellow onion

small handful of cilantro (optional)

1 tomato

1/2 or a whole lemon, depends on how ya like lemon ;)

1 Tablespoon of olive oil

1/4 tsp of sea salt

1/4 cup raw pumpkin seeds

1/8 cup dried cranberries


Cut all vegetables in small pieces and mix together. Stir together vigorously so the avocado begins to creamify itself, but not completely. 

Add pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries to garnish. Serve chilled and enjoy!


Sesame Honey Salad Dressing

First of all, it can be either a salad dressing OR a dip. Either way … it is awesome! This recipe fits into EVERYONE lifestyle because it is raw, vegan, gluten-free and so everyone (or almost everyone can enjoy it!) **NOTE : This is a dressing that will make you eat more and MORE veggies :) 

Equipement: Vitaminx or blender             Yields: almost 1 cup


1/2 cup raw tahini (ground sesame seeds)

1.5 garlic cloves

4 Tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar

1 Tablespoon + 1 Teaspoon gluten-free tamari sauce

1/2 teaspoon raw, unfiltered honey

1/3 cup filtered water


1) Add all ingredients together in Vitamix and press go. Gradually increase speed and let it stir for about 30 seconds

2) Place in fridge and serve chilled

3) ENJOY!!

Start Living Life

I don't think it is fair to our lives to put off living until we reach a certain material goal. So many of us are familiar with this story ::: When I lose 10lbs I can finally find the love of myself" … "When I lose 25lbs I can finally get the job I want" … " When I lose 5lbs, that is when I can finally find a boyfriend/girlfriend." As these stories are continually retold, living life gets postponed. We are never really present to live the experiences that are showing up in the moment.  I say … Let us move on from the story and start living now. Where does life want to be experienced? Choosing to show up to live, regardless of how much we weigh, has a significant impact on our health and ability to burn calories. (I'll explain this more in-depth in another video.) 

I propose this : What if, by choosing to live now, we looked at it as an actual tool to lose weight? Hmmm!!!!
